- The
Calverhall area is becoming famous due to the presence of Lions
Gate Studios, where TV shows such as X-Files, Outer
Limits and many others have been filmed. Movie crews are common
throughout the Greater Vancouver area, and in particular in North
Vancouver. Numerous movies are filmed at the studios.
The area is made up mostly of post war bungalows,
many affording views of Burrard Inlet to the east and south. Calverhall
also provides quick access to Second Narrows
Bridge and Capilano College, located in the Lynnmour
area.
- Elementary
schools are nearby, and one high school, Keith Lynn Alternate, offers
a special educational environment for children unable to fit into
the usual schools. The residential parts of the area are quiet and
pleasant, with the typically generously sized lots of the 50's and
60's.
- The
area contains a fair number of businesses in its southern portion,
including container port facilities and a rail yard. A wide retail
zone acts as a buffer to the residents.

East on Keith Road and
south on Brooksbank Avenue takes you to the Park
and Tilford Shopping Centre, which offers a large food store,
a private wine store and many other small boutiques restaurants and
services. Also, a beautiful place to visit are the Park &
Tilford Gardens (at the south of the shopping centre).
Further east on Keith Road,
you reach Mountain Highway, turning north and driving
for two kilometres, brings you the Lynn Valley Centre, another
large shopping area.
Recreation in the area includes a
pleasant walk on the side of Lynn Creek down to the observation
tower on the waterfront.
