- Central
Lonsdale is an
integral part of the City of North Vancouver. It is bordered by Keith
Road to the south, the Upper Levels Highway (Trans-Canada Highway
1) to the north, and Forbes and Moody Avenues respectively to
the west and east.
- The
area encompasses some “character” homes and some
newer construction, along with many apartment buildings and town homes.
The Central Lonsdale area, as opposed to many others, is a mix of
single family, apartments and townhouse. The apartment buildings are
located mostly on Lonsdale and on perpendicular streets, on either
side of Lonsdale, as far north as 23rd Street.
- Three
elementary schools and one senior high school are located in the area.
- Central
Lonsdale has been changing and evolving over the last ten years. While
low rise apartment buildings were common, recently a surge in taller
concrete buildings has transformed the look of the core area.

to high priced town homes and duplexes, are slowly
replacing the older family bungalows of the post war period. The area
now attracts people of all ages who share a common appreciation of
being able to walk to shops and entertainment.

Lonsdale Avenue is the main North-South
artery of North Vancouver. All of the Central Lonsdale area is
within steps of a wide variety of speciality shops, services and entertainment
in the form of coffee bars, restaurants, parks, and large and small
stores.
Buses,
run up and down Lonsdale and provide access to Downtown Vancouver
via the Seabus link, which is located at the foot of Lonsdale
Avenue. The Seabus operates every 15 minutes most of day.
Five
minutes by car, takes you to either the Westview
Shopping Centre, or to Capilano Mall, both located
to the west of the area.
